We have a wide range of events running throughout the year, with something for everyone. If you have any questions about our events please contact us.
Invitation to The Family Centre Deaf Children Annual General meeting, Saturday 13th November. Meeting starts at 11am. Find out what FCDC have been up to the past year and hear about future plans. You must be a member of FCDC to be able to vote. We will also be holding our annual Treefest decoration session for the children. This is a joint venture with FCDC, Bristol Deaf Children’s Society, Little Hands and Elmfield School for Deaf Children where we make Christmas decorations to hang on a Tree in St Mary Redcliffe Church entitled ‘Bristol’s Deaf Children’. There will also be an opportunity to write a letter to Father Christmas.
The Board of Trustees is looking for new members. Please see below.
The Board of Trustees is looking for volunteers to be Trustees. By the end of November, FCDC will be down to 5 active Trustees which is close to being the minimum required for an active charity. We need additional volunteers to join. It is an unpaid role (although expenses, if incurred, can be reimbursed). The role is not onerous and you can be part of a group of people shaping the support provided to our families impacted by deafness. Trustees normally meet one evening a month via Zoom, with the aim to hear, from the Office Manager what activities have been conducted, what is planned in the near future and how the financial budget is being managed. If you are a Trustee, you can influence decisions proposed and made. Trustees have to be of good standing and will need to be DBS checked and their names will be registered with the UK Government Charity Commission. Anyone who is interested please contact Neil Curry (neil@fcdc.org.uk) or by mobile (07946733003) who will be glad to discuss your responsibility as a Trustee.
It is essential that all of our events and activities are enjoyable, welcoming and inclusive to all and we rely on all of our families who attend to ensure this is the case. For all our family events parents will be expected to be responsible for their children at all times to ensure we have a respectful, safe and inclusive environment. If there are any concerns or anyone does not feel this is the case please approach either staff or trustees who will always be available at all events.
If it is your first time attending an event or you don’t know anyone else attending, please let the organisers know and they will link you with another parent as part of our buddy system.
If you are available to work at an event, please email Helen at helen@fcdc.org.uk, stating the event you are interested in.
