We had a jam packed Summer holidays here at FCDC, Here’s what we have been up to recently…

Breakfast morning at the farm 🍳

What better way to spend a Saturday morning than having breakfast at the farm… We invited our families to join us at Lawrence Weston Community Farm to enjoy some of their breakfast favourites whilst playing board games, colouring and catching up with other families. Everyone ordered from our very own FCDC breakfast menu, then myself and the rest of the staff got busy in the kitchen preparing their orders. Once we filled our stomachs we then headed out to explore the farm, our families wondered around the woodland, and found lots of animals along the way.

Family Beach Day🏖️

In the mists of a rainy summer, we ordered some sun here at FCDC… Our families (and their dogs) packed their buckets, spades and sun cream, And headed to Sand Bay in Weston-Super-Mare. There was kite flying, sand castle making, and beach football playing. The adults and children all enjoyed a lovely packed lunch each, with some delicious bbq s’mores to finish.

Horse Riding🐎

We then headed off to Severnvale equestrian centre, for some horse riding. The children took turns in riding/feeding the horses and taking part in games/races around the obstacles. They were also taught how to care for them, grooming, and plaiting their maine. To celebrate their day, Everyone went home with their very own rosette.

Family fun day🪴

It was then time to visit Golden Hill Community Garden. It was a fully packed day, with so much to do. From pond dipping, foraging, digging, making our very own pizzas from scratch, woodwork, to picking plums and blackberries to make a delicious jam, we truly did it all. It was lovely to spend the day exploring the outdoors. Lucy and her team at Golden hill shared their knowledge of everything nature with our families.

KS3/4 Locked in a room🔐

We ended August by getting locked in a room! We took our KS3/4 group and challenged them to escape from parallax. They had one hour to figure out the clues and solve the mystery in order to escape. We split off into two teams, and worked quickly. Everyone played their part and this time both groups were successful! It was a close call but Helen’s team escaped just before us with 71 seconds in it. We finished off our trip by grabbing some food at slug and lettuce.
