The rain held off and the sun hid to provide us with ideal cycling conditions last Saturday morning. Some of us managed to get a little lost (the scenic route) but we were all greeted by the cycling centres friendly staff who helped select an appropriate bike for each cyclist. There were so many different bikes available, balance bikes, mountain bikes, cool trikes, tandems, ones that had a space for a wheelchair, you name it they had it with the exception of a unicycle and a penny farthing!
Once kitted with our wheels, we were free to do laps around the track. Such fun and smiles all around. We had one boy who successfully learnt to ride solo during the session and could be heard saying “I’m peddling and no one can stop me!”. We had a parent who used 2 legs instead of wheels and ran around next to his family. Everyone got involved. The instructors were fabulous with the children, and encouraging to those who felt a bit anxious. Our session went by as quick as a flash, just like the speed of some of our cyclists, but we most definitely will return during the Summer school holidays.
