We will be discussing wellbeing and family life.
We have our own counsellor Shelley Frost leading discussions on emotional wellbeing, how parents can be affected by their childs’ deaf diagnosis and their ongoing care and in turn how children can grow up to be confident individuals with a positive self-image. We will look at the research FCDC have done and ask parents what further support they would like.
The coffee morning as every month will also be an opportunity to meet other families with deaf members, to talk, drink coffee and take part in some craft activities. We will be outside playing tennis if its not raining!
This month we will also have our BSL tutor with us and invite anyone who would like an introduction to BSL or a refresh on some basic BSL to come along and join us. The lesson will start at 10am. Older children welcome to join though creche facility also available if required. Booking essential.
It is essential that all of our events and activities are enjoyable, welcoming and inclusive to all and we rely on all of our families who attend to ensure this is the case. For all our family events parents will be expected to be responsible for their children at all times to ensure we have a respectful, safe and inclusive environment. If there are any concerns or anyone does not feel this is the case please approach either staff or trustees who will always be available at all events.
If it is your first time attending an event or you don’t know anyone else attending, please let the organisers know and they will link you with another parent as part of our buddy system.
If you are available to work at an event, please email Emma at firstname.lastname@example.org, stating the event you are interested in.
